I made the cookies - they are great! I don't do oats & when I opened my bag of rice flour there were things crawling around SO I made some substitutions...buckwheat flour, almond meal & walnuts. They are soft & chewy (I prefer crunchy) but very tasty. I probably put twice the chocolate chips & think there were just enough. :)
I don't quite understand the concern about them being undercooked in the middle... there are no eggs. I flattened the mounds a little before cooking and they came out perfectly.

You really really write so well. What a great review. I've been seeing this book pop up around the blog world and I knew it sounded like one I might want. I'm like you though and could do without the simple recipes for seasoned greens and such.

tra,
Thanks!

Johanna,
Yep, photos sometimes make all the difference! Glad to hear my cookies weren't the only ultra-soft ones!

Michelle,
You can email giz from Equal Opportunity Kitchen--I don't know whether they're still accepting new members, but it's worth a try! :)

Astra Libris,
Well, cookies should always take precedence over seaweed, no? ;)

Mihl,
Thanks! Glad you liked it. :)

Ashley,
It's not that scary once you try it, I promise! And arame is very mild. :)

Thank you for introducing me to a great book! I can't wait to try these two recipes - especially the banana cookies, of course... ;-)

Thanks for the review. I need to cook with seaweed more - will put this salad on my to do list. As for the banana cookies - I have tried banana choc chip cookies with more traditional ingredients and found they were quite soft and cakey too - but I agree it is helpful to have some advice in the recipe. And aren't blogs wonderful that they make it easy to share photos with the recipes - it does make a difference
