Thanks so much for this! I lost this cookbook, but almost got it right when attempting to recreate the salad today from memory. (forgot the groats) One of my kids must have lifted that cookbook - now I am wondering what other awesome recipes might be in there! Thanks again.

It is funny to think how trendy food can be. But that salad looks like a timeless classic to me...

I indulge my guilty pleasure for flash and trash magazines at my hair salon once every two months. They have them all, and I don't have to spend a dime. Somehow, contemplating "The Atlantic" while having your hair in foils just feels wrong. ; )

Salad looks like a hit the second time around. I've had barley water and Scotch broth, but never salad. Barley strikes me as the perfect blank canvas for all these vibrant additions.

Sounds good to be, but you cannot please all of the people all of the time, as I have learned with Graham.

Hey, nothing wrong with being a "health foodie" every now and then (or more often, even!) This sounds like a delicious dish, too- I just love barley!

What a beautiful vibrant photo of the salad! It sounds great--I bet the lemon and parsley flavors really shine through and are just so simple and good!

BTW, I am the same way--I could spend hours and hours in the grocery store looking around and "exploring!"

I'm guilty of reading those trashy magazines too. In fact, I actually subscribe to People... but I also subscribe to both Newsweek and Time, so that makes up for it, right? Right? (*slinks off to the corner in shame*)
